  1. About Category Email Pro plugin – top

Category Email Pro is a plugin which sends automated post alerts by email to individual subscribers, based on categories, most viewed, most commented or most recent, selected by the user or admin.  It also comes with 5 customisable responsive email layouts, a default text email version, a back-end to manage contacts and preferences and an email log of sends.  Not only that, you also get a neat subscriber widget to automate data capture and smooth along the whole process.  Category Email Pro fulfils a simple but essential part of most online presences.

= Minimum Requirements =

* WordPress 3.5.0

* PHP version 5.2.4 or greater

* MySQL version 5.0 or greater

= Automatic installation =

In your admin section:

  1. Go to “Plugins” -> “Add new” and install “CategoryEmailPro” plugin.
  2. Go to “Plugins” -> “ CategoryEmailPro “ and activate.
  3. Go to “Appearance” -> “Widgets” and add “CategoryEmailPro” widget to any sidebar you wish to see the subscribe widget on your site, when you are ready to use it.

= Manual installation =

The manual installation method involves downloading our plugin and uploading it to your web server via your avourite FTP application.

1. Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it

2. Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installations wp-content/plugins/ directory.

3. Activate the Category Email Pro plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.

3. Settings

CEP

  1. Widget Display  These settings are used for the front end display widget.  Input the number of categories you wish to have displayed on the widget.  If you leave blank the default is 5.

Then select from the tick boxes which categories you want to display on the widget.

Then select from the tick boxes which categories you want to exclude on the widget.

Click> Submit

  1. Notification

Tick the box if you wish to send a signup confirmation email to each new subscriber.

Subject Text> Enter the Subject

In the box beneath, enter the content of the signup email, using the shortcodes {BLOGNAME} and {BLOGLINK} where necessary.

3. Registered Users:

>Add/ Remove users. To add users you can manually add a user email to the box and assign them categories by selecting from the tick boxes on the right.  Then click Subscribe.

To remove users add the email address(es) to the box and click Unsubscribe and they will be removed.

  1. Current Registered Users

Enter an email into the search box to find a particular user.

Click the delete button next to any name on the database to remove this user.

4) Email Settings – top

Add your “From” email address and CEP will send your emails, no tricky SMTP details or other info is needed.

Set “Number of posts per email” to display how many posts you want to show in your emails.

Tick the boxes to filter by Most Commented, Most Viewed,  Most commented and Most Viewed  or Most Recent

Select categories you wish to exclude from your emails.

Set your email schedule using the tick box and calendar schedule dialog box.

Click Test Email to receive a copy of your email.

5) Templates

1. Template select.  Simply select the layout from our options that you wish your email content displayed in.  Your content will be laid out in one of these layouts or in a text only.

2. Template settings.  Upload your logo, select your colour, add Title, Subject, Header Description and other options to appear on our email.

6) Email Log

View the date, time, email content, recipient and subject of all your emails.
